About the Job

We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Houston, TX. As a key member of our accounting team, you'll apply accounting principles to create and interpret complex financial statements and reports. Your expertise will help us drive business decisions and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exercise accounting control over a group of accounts within a specialized area.
  • Develop financial reports for analysis, trending, and results analysis.
  • Interpret financial transactions and events for users who make economic or business decisions.
  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Apply a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process.
  • Prepare and process journal entries with supporting documentation.
  • Prepare various balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation.
  • Analyze and report general ledger account fluctuations.
  • Work with controllers to ensure corporate accounting structure and intercompany reporting best practices are in place.
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolve differences.
  • Use software applications to assemble, manipulate, and format data and/or reports.
  • Perform ERP testing and recommend solutions.
  • Know departmental goals, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Research issues, discrepancies, and resolve problems; recommend solutions or elevate to manager for discussion and resolution.
  • Analyze project costs, revenues, and gross margin.
  • Assist segment controller researching and reviewing project billing and AR aging.
  • Interact with external and internal auditors on audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

Qualifications:

Essential:

Expert in Excel.

Able to prepare financial reports to be submitted to Management.

Able to review work or journal entries from other accountants.

Detail-oriented.

Preferred:

  • Oracle experience.

Experience:

5 years as Accountant for similar business.

Education/Licence:

BS in Accounting or Equivalent.
