Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team in Manhattan. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

About the Role
In this position, you will provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and pertinent standards of care to diagnose illnesses and physical conditions. You will work collaboratively with a specific physician on staff at NYU Hospitals Center to ensure seamless care coordination. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing and implementing individualized care plans to meet patient needs and optimize clinical resource utilization.
  • Monitoring and analyzing cost-effectiveness of the position, particularly as it relates to efficiency and performance indicators established for the service.
  • Assisting in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing and other disciplines to develop and implement clinical studies within your area of expertise.
  • Using evidence-based healthcare literature to advise and support practice changes within the designated service.
  • Participating in the development and monitoring of patient outcomes per established practice protocols for purposes of quality and performance improvement.
  • Serving as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers and other health professionals.
  • Maintaining current expertise in your area of practice.
  • Promoting your professional growth and development in clinical and managerial roles.
  • Considering the needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care.
  • Evaluating treatment and healthcare plans for effectiveness and modifying them per clinical standards and practice protocols.
  • Practicing as a member of the allied health staff according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and bylaws as outlined in the delineation of privileges.
  • Prescribing medical equipment, devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home health services per practice protocol.
  • Prescribing in-patient and discharge medications according to New York State law, including controlled substances with DEA authorization.
  • Working collaboratively with attending physicians, consulting physicians, and other disciplines to identify, develop, and implement an appropriate plan of care that maximizes individual patient/family preference and enhances quality, access, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Formulating the plan of care along with the attending physician, patient, and family based on expected goals of care and length of stay.
  • Ordering customary laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per practice protocols, differentiating between normal/abnormal findings, and following protocols for abnormal findings, which may include referral to consulting physicians per customary pattern of the attending MD or with the collaborating physician.
  • Performing complete health histories, physical examinations, and psychosocial assessments of patients within the designated practice or clinical unit.
  • Functioning as a respectful member of the healthcare team.
  • Participating in designated activities related to professional nursing standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
  • Demonstrating knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporating them into the performance of responsibilities.
  • Facilitating the continuity of care across the continuum of services (e.g., home care, other facilities, appointments with MDs).
  • Providing consultation about the therapeutic regimen to the nursing staff responsible for the patients' care in the hospital setting.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing leadership to ensure timely communications with the nursing staff.
  • Working collaboratively with attending physicians to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, housestaff, other disciplines, and ancillary services.
  • Participating in the development and revision of interdisciplinary and nursing standards, patient and family education materials as relevant to your area of practice and expertise.
  • Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, including attending physicians, to develop and implement the therapeutic plan of care for a group of patients and ensure communication with family members.
