Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Management Specialist to join our team at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in commercial network performance management to drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the CMS Energy Management Department, overseeing maintenance of the database of utility expenses, periodic summary reporting, budget estimates, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct data analysis, technology health analysis, and visionary responsibilities for improving HVAC-EMS optimal and cost-efficient operation while ensuring comfort.
  • Collaborate with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing associates on the development, installation, maintenance, and control of energy-efficient systems.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend efficient and effective energy utilization by forecasting, planning, and monitoring utility usage.
  • Track, report, and analyze project savings towards program/portfolio goals, providing ongoing feedback to program advisors to promote strategic decision-making.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or in a technical discipline such as energy, sustainability, mechanical, electrical, electronics, IoT, computer, and/or automation engineering.
  • Five years of experience in management, preferably supplemented by supervisory experience.
  • Seven years of commercial/Industrial building automation systems control of HVAC hydronic systems and equipment.
  • Certifications such as CEM, PEM, PE, and HVAC H1, H2, H3 Licensing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Auto Cad Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of Energy Management Systems (EMS) and their control of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of building, fire, and life safety codes, Federal & State energy codes, and practical applications.
