Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Crane Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at Harsco Environmental. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to load and unload scrap materials, as well as performing routine maintenance and inspections.

Responsibilities
  • Operate cab-controlled traveling cranes to lift, move, position, and load scrap materials
  • Offload material for processing and load scrap buckets
  • Monitor weight of scrap placed in each bucket and inspect scrap for defects
  • Manipulate crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement
  • Inspect crane for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions
  • Operate mobile equipment as needed and communicate with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals
  • Assist maintenance with cleaning on down days and perform routine mobile equipment pre-start and post inspections
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience as a heavy equipment operator
  • Ability to do manual labor in an outdoor environment with elevated areas and extreme weather conditions
  • Good communication skills and ability to read operating instructions
  • Proactive in safety and works well in a team environment
