Job Summary:

The Senior ICU Nurse Professional will assume responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care of patients in a fast-paced Intermediate Care Unit environment. The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process by leveraging technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice, and coordination of care with other healthcare team members to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, recognize, and address patients' psychological and physical needs to foster quality care with the best interests of patients and their families in mind.
  • Communicate compassionately and effectively with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
  • Supervise and direct the delivery of care by LPNs and/or CNAs.
  • Participate in clinical team conferences and contribute to shared decision-making processes.

Requirements:

Education:

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is mandatory. Registered Nurses with an ASN/ADN degree must complete a BSN degree within four years from the Registered Nurse's date of hire unless they have a minimum of fifteen years of proven continuous Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting. Failure to obtain a BSN degree within that timeframe may result in suspension or termination of employment.

Certification:

A current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval is also necessary.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires manual dexterity, visual acuity, hearing ability, and communication skills. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment, and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors require verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
