About the Role

Midland Manufacturing, a leading provider of innovative solutions for the rail industry, is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to join our team in Skokie, IL.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position responsible for developing, editing, maintaining, and improving CMM programs related to CNC setup, PPAP, engineering evaluations, and other critical tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality inspection, metrology, and programming languages such as PC-DMIS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain CMM programs to ensure accuracy and efficiency in inspections
  • Assess and improve fixturing related to the CMM to optimize production processes
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance inspection efficiency and accuracy
  • Interpret drawings and verify requirements for production and PPAP parts, communicating results to relevant stakeholders
  • Conduct First Article Inspections, Process Capability Studies, Random Sampling, and Custom Evaluations using metrology equipment
  • Document inspection and process results accurately using Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Sharepoint, and Oracle
  • Recommend instrumentation, calibration, and gauging needs
  • Collaborate with the team to define strategies for meeting quality objectives and system reviews
Requirements
  • Associates Degree or equivalent required; formal training in CMM programming acceptable
  • 10+ years of prior experience in quality inspection
  • 5+ years of experience programming CMMs, with knowledge of PC-DMIS preferred
Desired Characteristics
  • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of GD&T and apply principles when programming and conducting inspections
  • Proficient at programming from CAD models and directly from the product
  • Able to work with minimal supervision, taking initiative and ownership of tasks
  • Team-oriented individual willing to learn, listen actively, and continuously improve
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $28.00 - $37.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, this role offers opportunities for growth and professional development in a dynamic environment.
