Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pet Care Specialist to join our team at NY Dog 25th Street. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about animal care and have a strong commitment to providing exceptional service.

About the Role

  • Supports the mission, vision, and values of Destination Pet LLC by delivering high-quality pet care services.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of pet enclosures and general boarding areas, including disinfecting and sanitizing as needed.
  • Provides clean bedding and ensures pet guests have access to fresh water at all times.
  • Monitors and accurately records consumption and elimination patterns for each pet guest, reporting any concerns to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Conducts regular visual checks on pet guests to ensure their safety and well-being throughout the day.
  • May be required to supervise group play for dogs or individual activities for pet guests.
  • May assist with bathing and brushing canine guests as needed.
  • Cleans up excrement from enclosures and other areas as necessary throughout the day.
  • Monitors and cleans pet belongings, ensuring their safe return to owners.
  • Performs daily laundry duties for pet bedding and towels.

Requirements

Expertise & Experience:

  • A passion for animal care and a genuine love for pets.
  • Previous experience in animal care or kennel settings is preferred.
  • A professional demeanor and strong communication skills are essential.
  • This is an entry-level role, open to high school/college students and teenagers aged 16+.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking are expected.
  • Regular climbing of stairs may be necessary.
  • Must be comfortable handling dogs on leashes.
  • Exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions is possible.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the General Manager

Benefits: Part-time health insurance, part-time mental health support, and part-time telehealth services

Compensation: $16.00-$18.00 per hour
