Job Summary

The City of Clermont, FL is seeking a skilled Sanitation Driver to join our team. As a Sanitation Driver, you will be responsible for operating a Rear Loader, Automated Side Loader, and/or Clam Truck to collect refuse and trash from residences. This is a full-time position that requires a valid Class B Commercial Florida Driver's License with air brake endorsement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive, operate, lift, and dump refuse containers into the Sanitation Truck.
  • Empty garbage cans and load trash (limbs, leaves, grass, etc.) into the Sanitation Truck.
  • Use pitch forks, shovels, and similar hand tools to pick up general refuse and trash from curbside and other areas.
  • Exercise appropriate safety precautions while the vehicle is in operation.
  • Judge heights and distances while the truck is in operation.
  • Complete designated refuse collection routes and deliver waste.
  • Perform daily pre-trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Fuel and clean trucks at the end of the day, and perform light preventative maintenance (greasing of pinch points, etc.).
  • May be placed on emergency call-outs.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least one (1) year experience of CDL Class B or A driving.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Florida Driver's License with air brake endorsement.
  • Obtain FEMA IS100 and IS700 within six (6) months from date of employment.
Work Environment

This position requires working outside in sometimes adverse environmental conditions (e.g., heat, cold, and rain) for moderate periods of time. Exposure to traffic and moving machinery is also expected.
