Director of National Security Partnerships

At Blue Origin, we are working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. As a Director of National Security Partnerships, you will lead efforts to shape, pursue, and secure National Security Space (NSS) program partnerships and contracts, particularly with the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community, as well as NSS industry partners.

This role entails direct and personal interaction with external customers, internal technical staff, and senior leadership, including Vice Presidents and C-suite executives. You will be responsible for developing and implementing capture strategy and lead campaign teams for sales of Blue Origin products and services to U.S. Government (USG) acquisition programs, as well as creating new opportunities, in coordination with company senior leadership across multiple business units.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Leading development and writing of comprehensive proposals, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and other presentations to customers.
  2. Tracking USG programs of interest, including budget, Congressional actions, industry participation, and technical requirements.
  3. Assessing competitor capabilities and offerings to understand the competitiveness of our market position and offerings, in conjunction with the Strategy and Corporate Development teams.
  4. Assisting in developing Blue Origin positions on issues and communicating those positions to Congressional and USG agency offices.
  5. Engaging with current and prospective Government and industry customers to build and maintain strong relationships.
  6. Collaborating with Blue Origin technical staff to translate complex technical matters into accessible information for broader audiences.
  7. Managing consultants as necessary to support various initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree, and at least one degree in a technical field.
  2. 15+ years of proven experience on U.S. Government space-related activities and programs.
  3. Excellent communicator, both oral and written, and demonstrated success communicating with technical and non-technical audiences, from peer to executive levels.
  4. Able to represent Blue Origin at conferences, customer meetings, and other fora.
  5. Government contracting experience, including knowledge of contract management, source selection processes, and proposal evaluations.
  6. Experience developing and implementing capture management strategies for U.S. Government programs.
  7. Excellent organizational skills for tracking customers, compiling proposals, and meeting deadlines.
  8. Extraordinarily high judgment, energy, creativity, standards for yourself and others.
  9. Must be able to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
  10. Active, or ability to acquire/renew Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with polygraph.
