Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Laser Machinist Specialist to join our team in Wichita, KS. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating laser cutting units, ensuring accurate settings for speeds, depths, and feeds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and follow blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions, or other written specifications to ensure correct material processing.
  • Determine processing specifications such as materials, forms, sizes, surface conditions, material defects dimensions, tolerances, and operational sequences.
  • Ensure correct material for the job is used according to work orders.
  • Coordinate and execute material handling.
  • Set up laser cutting unit for safe operation by selecting appropriate nozzles, setting speeds, and feeds.
  • Position workpieces for processing and may operate a combination of different machines.
  • Operate laser machines during processing as required based on workload or business needs.
  • Adjust controls to set cutting speed, depth, and feed rates.
  • Measure and examine pieces using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to work order specifications.
  • Perform 'In Process' and 'Finished Product' quality control inspections.
  • Remove scrap metal and clean equipment according to designated maintenance procedures.
  • Diagnose problems and make necessary adjustments.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multilimbed coordination.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, internal customers, and/or vendors.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, paid weekly. Additional benefits include medical, dental & vision, life insurance, health spending account, 401(k) plan, and transportation benefits.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite position in Wichita, KS, requiring effective time management and adaptability to changing workloads. You will work with laser cutting units and other precision instruments, ensuring all equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
