Veterinarian, ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center

The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team as a Consulting Veterinarian in Clinical Toxicology. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in managing cases involving animals exposed to potentially dangerous substances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Professionally manage cases initiated by telephone from practicing veterinarians, animal owners, and others.
- Obtain complete case histories and provide detailed and accurate diagnostic and treatment recommendations.
- Enter information conveyed during consultations into the electronic record.
- Develop appropriate risk and rule out assessments based on exposure history and clinical findings.
- Provide up-to-date treatment recommendations and assist veterinarian callers with critical care procedures.
- Consult with on-site and off-site experts in complicated cases.
- Advise support staff in the management of cases per established APCC protocols.
- Maintain quality in the case record and medical proficiency.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited veterinary college (DVM, VMD) or equivalent.
- Current veterinary license from any U.S. state.
- Eligibility for and ability to obtain an active Illinois state veterinary license within one year of hire.
- 1 year of clinical experience.
- Emergency facility work experience preferred.
- Veterinary medical internship experience preferred.
