About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Highway Construction Leader to join our team at CMC Partners. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the management of large-scale heavy civil projects in the Houston area.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in supervising field crews and subcontractors on multi-million-dollar projects. You will be responsible for managing work schedules, maintaining safety standards, resolving issues promptly, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly monitor project timelines and make necessary adjustments to overcome any delays, ensuring milestones are met across various projects.
  • Work with management to provide updates on progress and adjust schedules to align with project goals.
  • Oversee planning for on-site needs, including equipment, manpower, road closures, and ongoing updates on work progress.
  • Review and adjust work schedules to avoid delays, implementing strategies to stay on target with project deadlines.
  • Continuously track productivity and costs, identifying ways to keep expenses in check while maintaining efficient construction activities.
  • Collaborate with your team to share best practices, monitor resource allocation, and achieve project goals effectively.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, and subcontractors, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards related to work ethic, safety, and quality within your team.
  • Manage and direct the hiring, training, development, and evaluation of personnel on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, as well as specific project requirements.
  • Oversee equipment usage and procurement, ensuring all necessary materials and tools are available for the job.
  • Provide feedback to Project Managers about any necessary schedule changes or shifts in resource allocation.
  • Plan and coordinate the daily tasks of crews, ensuring work is carried out efficiently.
  • Be a fair, honest, and respected leader, fostering a productive work environment.
  • Interpret blueprints and project documentation related to heavy civil infrastructure construction.
  • Handle any additional duties as required to ensure the project's success.

Salary:$120,000 - $180,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy highway and civil construction, with at least 3 years in a leadership position as a superintendent.
  • Strong familiarity with TxDOT standards and project requirements.
  • Proven track record in supervising field crews and subcontractors on large, multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual candidates with Spanish fluency are preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and construction software like HCSS and Procore.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues on-site, and a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
