Travel Crane Operator

We are seeking a skilled Travel Crane Operator to join our team at Metromont. As a key member of our yard operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining our travel cranes, ensuring efficient and effective material handling.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct pre-operational checks on travel cranes and perform daily cleaning and sanitization of cabs
* Demonstrate understanding of crane capacity and safe lifting practices
* Maintain knowledge of product dunnage and stacking practices
* Operate travel cranes in a safe manner, following all safety guidelines and rules
* Work with crew leaders and ground men to safely set products on trailers or in stacks on the yard
* Assist with setting timbers on trailers or in stacks on the yard and rigging when needed
* Perform preventive maintenance on cranes and report maintenance needs as necessary
* Work as part of a team, assisting others as needed
* Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations
* Maintain a clean and orderly work area, tools, and equipment
Requirements
* Knowledge of crane guide hand signals and mark-up load steps
* Ability to read load-pick lists and understand rigging
* Basic reading, writing, and math skills
* Ability to work on a team and adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes
* Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors
* High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
