Office Assistant Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. As an Office Assistant, you will provide exceptional support to our clinical intake operations, ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide reception assistance, including greeting patients, answering calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate individual.
  • Schedule routine appointments and follow-ups for visits and procedures that do not require pre-authorization.
  • Collect and complete patient-related documents, including insurance information and demographic data.
  • Assist patients with enrolling in Patient Secure and verify demographic information on subsequent visits.
  • Collect co-pays and balances owed to the institution and scan necessary documents into the intake system.
  • Monitor the intake work queue for timely completion and ensure accurate procedure and diagnosis coding in the pre-certification and verification process.
  • Assist patients with insurance coverage questions and refer them to the business office contact as needed.
  • Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office staff.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database, and internet applications.
  • Light, accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 months of experience in a physician practice office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EPIC Ambulatory.
