Position Overview

We are seeking a licensed registered nurse with specialized training in the care of patients undergoing various specialty procedures, including but not limited to General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Vascular, GYN, and Gastroenterology. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the procedural process and demonstrate effective communication skills with medical professionals. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary care with various departments and external specialty care groups as necessary. The nurse will interpret pre-treatment data and apply clinical judgment in alignment with physician directives and treatment protocols. A self-directed approach and the ability to independently address and resolve issues throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases are essential.

  • Intra-operative Duties: Oversee nursing care for sedated patients, collaborate with the Charge Nurse and Surgeon regarding patient concerns, assist the surgical team in maintaining a safe environment, and ensure adherence to sterile techniques and equipment safety during procedures. Provide technical assistance to physicians and continuously monitor vital signs.
  • Post-operative Duties: Assess and monitor patient conditions and responses to procedures and sedation. Educate patients and families, initiate emergency care as required, and conduct follow-up assessments. Evaluate treatment side effects and identify additional health concerns that may need medical intervention.
  • Review laboratory results for abnormalities and consult with physicians as necessary based on patient medical status.
  • Document all patient information accurately in the electronic medical record system.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families regarding pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, surgical interventions, prognosis, and follow-up.
  • Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality and safe patient care, emphasizing continuity between departments.
  • Act as a liaison for nursing and medical staff when outpatients are admitted for care.
  • Maintain accurate records related to patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing education as determined by the Specialty Nurse Manager.
  • Be flexible to float to other procedural suite locations as needed.
