Role Summary

The Technical Responsibility of this role is to ensure the highest level of safety in our vehicles. In 2023, both our R1S and R1T received the highest score, Top Safety Pick +, in the IIHS test. As a Safety Engineering Manager, you will work with leaders across the business to ensure teams are collaborating effectively and aligned with strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build a cohesive and focused team through effective communication and leadership.
  • Own and secure on-time deliveries to the engineering teams and manage a team capable of delivering safety performance on a vehicle program.
  • Work alongside attribute leaders in other areas and Vehicle Concept teams to provide direction on what is needed from a safety standpoint.
  • Drive the definition and development of crash performance with visibility of all affected sub-systems and components through a systems approach.
  • Continuously drive the development of the way of working in the team to align with the changes in business needs in the most efficient way.
Qualifications
  • B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in automotive Safety Engineering.
  • Over 7 years of experience managing engineering teams and delivering to high-volume production.
  • Strong background in Crash Structures for high-speed, low-speed, quasi-static crash modes as well as global VRUP.
  • Ability to report to senior management and report accurate information in a clear and concise manner.
