Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced structural engineering professional with certifications in commercial diving to join our team. As a key member of our inspection and rehabilitation design team, you will be responsible for conducting site investigations, managing projects, and working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and developers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site investigations of waterfront infrastructure, including marine structures, marinas, ports, container terminals, and water control structures.
  • Manage projects and staff to ensure scopes of work are fulfilled and contracted deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget.
  • Work collaboratively with our inspection teams, design teams, and other engineering disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Analyze aged or damaged components of marine structures to assess repairs, upgrades, and load capacity updates.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis conversations with clients to assist with selection of preferred solutions.
  • Perform inspections utilizing commercial diving methods and techniques while adhering to field operation standards and safety procedures.
  • Assist in writing technical reports and manuals as needed.
  • Understand and maintain proficiency with State, Federal, and local agency design standards and criteria, practices, and policies.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Function independently performing technical design and ROM cost estimating tasks.
  • Assist in business development activities, such as proposals and cost estimates for the Inspection & Rehabilitation Discipline.
  • Participate in long-distance projects with travel and overnight stays as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required; license in California desired within 12 months of hire.
  • Certified Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, or ADAS.
  • 10 to 15+ years of structural assessment experience.
  • Certified Dive Supervisor preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspections.
  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Boater Safety Card preferred.
  • Ability to obtain security clearances required by the US Navy strongly preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain within a couple of months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred.
  • Good planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening.
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post-offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works in both the office and field, requiring ongoing design work and diving in waters with exposure to extreme elements. Some extended days, evenings, and weekend work requirements are expected.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the incumbent to be in excellent physical condition, with specific physical conditioning and strength required for ADCI (or equivalent) diving. The incumbent must be able to lift, carry, climb, and navigate in a small boat.
