Job Overview: As a Land Survey Technician at Cash Waggner & Associates, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Land Survey Crew Chief in executing various field survey assignments. This position demands strong foundational math skills pertinent to surveying, effective verbal and written communication abilities, and a commitment to following instructions thoroughly while navigating challenging terrains and adverse weather conditions. Key Responsibilities:
  • Input survey data into designated files within the computer network and gather data for field applications.
  • Efficiently clear lines, set points, and utilize tape, chains, and levels for field survey tasks as directed by the Crew Chief.
  • Maintain the crew's assigned vehicle in a clean and operational state, ensuring it is stocked with necessary tools and supplies as per the Crew Chief's instructions.
  • Report any mechanical or safety issues to the Crew Chief promptly.
  • Prepare, clean, and store field surveying equipment utilized by the crew.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with fellow crew members to ensure timely and precise completion of assigned projects.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, especially when working near traffic or on active construction sites.
  • Accurately identify various tree species encountered during field survey operations.
  • Assist in training entry-level rodmen as needed.
  • Clear brush and trees from the survey line as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with surveying and GPS equipment and software, including Total Station.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • Ability to manage office tasks efficiently, organize work, prioritize effectively, and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff and clients.
  • Local travel within a 300-mile radius may be necessary.
Physical Demands:
  • Capability to stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and effectively use hands, tools, and controls.
  • Ability to lift and/or move weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience on a survey crew is preferred.
