Cleveland Clinic is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our Maternal-Fetal Medicine team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients and perform specialized imaging exams and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the fields of OB/GYN and women's health, motivated to learn, and able to communicate effectively with physicians and patients. You will have opportunities to obtain CMEs, attend monthly meetings, and help train and support new caregivers, students, residents, and fellows.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs OB/GYN ultrasound exams in accordance with lab standards and guidelines.
  • Reviews patient history prior to exam.
  • Communicates exam process to patients.
  • Ensures patient comfort and safety.
  • Works closely with physicians and communicates findings.
  • Monitors templates/schedule for ultrasound appointments.
  • Ensures emergent ultrasounds are done in a timely manner.
  • Completes end of day transmission of images and archive.
  • Adequately cleans equipment and stocks linen and supplies.
  • Participates in lab meetings, quality assurance, and educational processes.
  • Assists staff and fellows in research projects.
  • Maintains knowledge in the field and specialty, and equipment.
  • Assists in training new hires, students, fellows, and residents.
  • Rotates to sites as needed within the Institute.
  • Assists in new investigative techniques, procedures, and equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge in the field and CMEs.
  • RDMS must be maintained in good standing.

Education and Certifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing.
  • Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Must obtain RDMS registry in OB/GYN within 1 year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (American Heart Association).

Work Experience:

  • 1 year OB GYN Women's Health ultrasound experience or 3 years of ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Must successfully complete at least five patient exams in each of the 9 OB/MFM competencies and at least five patient exams in each of the 9 GYN/REI competencies within 6-months of hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking to extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
  • Must be able to travel and get to scheduled locations.
