Advanced Practice Provider

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider to join our Cardio Thoracic Surgery team at Emory University.
Job Summary:The Advanced Practice Provider will assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients in the Cardio Thoracic Surgery department. This includes conducting patient interviews, documenting patient histories, and performing physical examinations. The provider will also assist in diagnosing medical problems, developing care plans, and prescribing treatment under the direction of a physician.
Responsibilities:- Assist in the evaluation and treatment of patients in the Cardio Thoracic Surgery department
- Conduct patient interviews and document patient histories
- Perform physical examinations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures
- Assist in diagnosing medical problems, developing care plans, and prescribing treatment under the direction of a physician
- Order, schedule, and/or perform laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures
- Communicate with patients regarding scheduled procedures and anticipated effects
- Collaborate with physicians to arrange for consultations with or referrals to other medical professionals or community services
- Educate patients on health habits, self-examinations, and behavior management
- Work with managers to formulate plans for professional development
- Participate in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments
- Maintain and update current, accurate patient records
- Collect and interpret diagnostic data to implement appropriate care patient care plans
- Prepare statistical reports and analyses of research projects and investigational protocols
- Train and teach other healthcare professionals in techniques and procedures unique to specific settings
- Actively participate on organizational health services committees
- Completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program, or Physician Assistant program
- Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as an Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Licensed as appropriate in the state of Georgia
- May require at least one year of direct experience in one or more high acuity clinical specialties
- BLS, ACLS, and Healthcare Provider certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cardiac Surgery APP
- Proficient in endoscopic vein harvest with Maquet
This position involves clinical patient contact and working with human blood, body fluids, tissues, or other potentially infectious materials.
