Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse to join our team at Alaska Dialysis. This role involves developing and implementing effective home patient care plans, ensuring compliance with clinical policies and procedures.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Educate and train patients on peritoneal dialysis and home dialysis procedures.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Meet with new patients to explain modality options and home dialysis requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, supply companies, primary care physicians, and transplant teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Stay up-to-date on dialysis equipment and water quality in patients' homes.
  • Participate in care plan meetings and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide instruction and assess daily patient care needs, communicating with direct supervisors and physicians as needed.
  • Participate in patient office visits with physicians and accurately implement new orders.
  • Schedule and communicate test results to physicians and patients.
  • Complete required clinic records, including occurrence reports and CQI projects.
  • Enter daily computer data and reports as required.
  • Attend and complete required educational programs.

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited Registered Nurse program with current Alaska license or ability to obtain.
  • 1 year of nursing experience required.
  • Dialysis experience preferred.
  • BCLS and ACLS certification preferred.
  • Leadership ability and organizational skills.
  • Computer software knowledge.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and implement government standards.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Frequent long periods of standing, bending, stooping, walking, and sitting.
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Occasional travel by airplane may be required.
  • Flexibility to travel between clinics and patients' homes.
