Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Peritoneal Dialysis Nurse to join our team at Alaska Dialysis. This role involves developing and implementing effective home patient care plans, ensuring compliance with clinical policies and procedures.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Educate and train patients on peritoneal dialysis and home dialysis procedures.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Meet with new patients to explain modality options and home dialysis requirements.
- Act as a liaison between patients, supply companies, primary care physicians, and transplant teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Stay up-to-date on dialysis equipment and water quality in patients' homes.
- Participate in care plan meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Provide instruction and assess daily patient care needs, communicating with direct supervisors and physicians as needed.
- Participate in patient office visits with physicians and accurately implement new orders.
- Schedule and communicate test results to physicians and patients.
- Complete required clinic records, including occurrence reports and CQI projects.
- Enter daily computer data and reports as required.
- Attend and complete required educational programs.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited Registered Nurse program with current Alaska license or ability to obtain.
- 1 year of nursing experience required.
- Dialysis experience preferred.
- BCLS and ACLS certification preferred.
- Leadership ability and organizational skills.
- Computer software knowledge.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to understand and implement government standards.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Frequent long periods of standing, bending, stooping, walking, and sitting.
- Lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Valid driver's license.
- Occasional travel by airplane may be required.
- Flexibility to travel between clinics and patients' homes.
