PACU Technician

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled PACU Technician to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our operating room and recovery areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently perform advanced patient care tasks as delegated by the RN, including IV line insertion and removal, phlebotomy, and EKGs.

• Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressures, temperatures, and heart rates.

• Collect and process patient specimens, including urine, stool, and sputum samples.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to department safety policies and standard precautions.

• Assist with patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.

• Prepare patient rooms for admission and discharge, and assist with the patient admission and discharge process.

Requirements:

• Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.

• Advanced training beyond high school, including completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing Assistant.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to set priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, and carry up to 40 pounds a reasonable distance.

• Ability to push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present.
