Job Summary

VPE Thermal is seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to lead welding projects and provide technical expertise in welding processes and procedures. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of ASME requirements and be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, strong organizational and administrative abilities, and a solid foundation in welding procedures and codes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is also essential.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating welding-related issues to improve product performance and increase productivity
  • Designing welded parts and assemblies for PCHE pressure devices
  • Developing standards, materials, weld joint designs, and welding processes
  • Ensuring that all necessary information to carry out welding operations is generated and available prior to commencement of work
  • Supporting the business during client and 3rd party audits, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, ASME section IX, and customer compliance requirements

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology, or 5 years of relevant industrial experience. Previous experience in welding engineering or welding technical support is also essential.

Essential skills include:

  • Analytical thinker and problem-solver
  • Excellent communication, writing, and computer skills
  • Ability to create, design, and analyze blueprints and drawings

Recommended certifications include AWS Certified Welding Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Engineer, NDE level III qualified in Visual and Ultrasonic interpretation, and familiarity with Radiographic testing.
