Legal Director Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced attorney to serve as Legal Director, overseeing our team of attorneys and non-attorney staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Native American communities and the civil rights of disenfranchised communities, especially those with disabilities.

The role involves developing legal strategies to address unique issues impacting Native American children and families in the Four Corners region. The successful candidate will be part of our Management Team, contributing to long-range goals and providing input on organizational strategy.

About the Role:

  • Lead a team of attorneys and non-attorney staff in providing free legal services to Native Americans with disabilities
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to address complex issues affecting Native American communities
  • Supervise and guide the work of attorneys and non-attorney staff
  • Collaborate with the Management Team to inform organizational strategy and contribute to long-range goals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in law, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrable interest in disability rights and social justice
  • Experience working with Native American communities or organizations serving individuals with disabilities preferred
  • Admission to the Utah, Arizona, Colorado, or New Mexico Bar, or ability to apply for admission on waiver, is required
