We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at The Market on Courthouse Square, a gourmet deli and gift shop in the historic district of Hinton, West Virginia.
The successful candidate will assist the Executive Chef in managing the kitchen, directing cooks, and ensuring quality customer service and quality food.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, inventory management, and food production
- Direct and manage cooks and other kitchen workers to ensure efficient and effective food preparation
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff to inform and communicate specials, out of stock items, and goal setting
- Report food/stock inventory that is low, out of date, and/or not usable
- Assist in weekly inventory and catering preparations
- Ensure all staff on shift are performing to company standards
- Ability to accurately manage and handle cash for opening/closing procedures
- Handle customer complaints in the absence of Executive Chef and/or Culinary Manager
2+ years of experience as a Sous Chef or Executive Chef Assistant in a fast-casual or fine dining restaurant
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred
