Are you a dedicated and compassionate caregiver looking to make a difference in the lives of patients? We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in the Float Pool Oncology department at UMass Memorial Health.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient care by escorting patients to examination rooms, taking and recording vital signs, and collecting and documenting patient health status.
  • Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests according to clinic/office standards.
  • Assist in preparing, documenting, and administering non-intravenous injections as directed or required by office/clinic, within scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with licensed clinicians to provide clear, timely communication regarding patient observations and changes.
  • Ensure instruments and scopes are cleaned, sterilized, and repackaged per office/clinic protocol.
  • Operate the sterilization/cleaning systems, as necessary.
  • Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients as directed following policy standards.
  • Follow procedures for arriving patients and scheduling appointments.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
  • Maintain assigned office and/or clinical supplies, ensuring accurate inventory and rotating stock as required.
  • Process prescription and refills as directed per procedure.
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties, including typing, filing, scheduling appointments, generating letters, and form preparation.
  • Collaborate with insurers to verify coverage, eligibility, and prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and tests.
  • Collect co-payments from patients for visits and maintain records.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health.
