We are seeking a skilled Diesel Fleet Mechanic to join our team at Jack Cooper, responsible for maintaining our extensive fleet of 2600 Semi-Tractors. As a key member of our world-class maintenance team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our vehicles.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $30.66 per hour, with opportunities for additional compensation based on ASE certification. As a Diesel Fleet Mechanic, you will be required to work varied shifts, including second shift, which typically runs from 2:00pm-12:30am, with a 10-hour workday. You must be open to working either Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Saturday.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect equipment and report mechanical issues and problems to shop management.
- Communicate effectively to ensure efficient repair and diesel fleet mechanic performance.
- Ensure parts inventory is adequate to meet repair needs.
To be successful in this role, you must possess basic mechanic tools as required to work on class 8 trucks (heavy duty). A valid driver's license and CDL (Commercial Driver's License) are also preferred. Furthermore, you must meet the medical requirements specified by DOT/MOT, pass a pre-employment drug screen, and undergo a physical examination.
