Job Summary

The Fostering Prevention Specialist provides assistance to at-risk families, strengthening parenting skills to keep families together. This role involves providing flexible and responsive services to families based on individual needs, including accessing healthcare and legal services, support groups, advocacy, and parent curriculum training.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to referrals from the community for families needing help with effective childcare.
  • Manage multiple cases simultaneously, maintaining frequent communication with direct supervisors.
  • Provide families with information and community referrals.
  • Assist caregivers in identifying barriers to receiving services and create plans to meet identified needs.
  • Evaluate family access to benefits and assist parents in utilizing existing community resources and support systems.
  • Improve social support systems and family resources by coordinating with community agencies.
  • Capture data on presenting problems and resources provided in the FAC client database system.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of families/clients in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with key community stakeholders, attend meetings as needed, and participate in staff meetings.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field (preferred).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with children and families required.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and proposing new ways of creating efficiencies.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong commitment to supporting at-risk families and personal experience or connection preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Verbal and written communication skills, including clear and persuasive writing.
  • Interpersonal skills for establishing rapport and building trust quickly.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in work styles to fit various cultures, people, and organizations.
  • Travel required to attend meetings within surrounding counties.
  • Flexible work hours, including evening and weekend appointments.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary range: $45K - $50K per year.
