Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Eligibility Specialist to join our team at CommuniCare Health Center. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients, ensuring accurate account management, and facilitating enrollment in various health programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform new patient registration, update patient information, and verify third-party benefit coverage.
  • Conduct eligibility screenings, assist with application completion, and accurately place clients on appropriate programs.
  • Prepare for next-day clinic sessions, including reviewing appointments, updating insurance information, and screening patients for program eligibility.
  • Maintain knowledge and expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications of the Federal Marketplace and other health coverage programs.
  • Ensure the protection and security of patient information, according to HIPAA standards.
  • Process credit card payments, complete end-of-day reconciliation reports, and ensure accurate payment application.
  • Assist with training support staff on insurance verification, demographics, and payment processing.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service, communicating with clients, support staff, and third-party payors.
Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year experience in front office duties, including insurance verification and referrals.
  • Must complete a minimum of 30 hours of training to obtain Consumer Assistance Certification within six months of employment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Internet/Intranet, and EHR data entry skills.
  • Knowledge in healthcare billing, including Medicaid, Medicare, and Private Insurance.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication, with interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements

  • Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.
  • Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.
  • Physical: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.
