Medical Oncology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at LewisGale Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical surgical oncology and be able to provide exceptional patient care.
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient-centered care in line with the department's requirements and state and specialty standards. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, the nurse will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patient condition during admission and scheduled shifts, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, ensuring thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse licensure in the relevant state.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification, or BCLS Instructor certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.

Estimated Salary:
$90,000 - $110,000 per year, based on location and experience.
