Job Summary:

This part-time teaching assignment provides instruction for two sections of high school math. The successful candidate will be required to plan, organize, and deliver instruction to meet individual and group learning needs, utilizing state guidelines and division curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

The Mathematics Instructor will be responsible for:

  • Planning and delivering instruction to meet the needs of high school students, utilizing state standards and division curriculum.
  • Regularly exhibiting knowledge of learning theory and best practices.
  • Consistently acting in the best interests of students and modeling appropriate behavior in all professional interactions.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this assignment include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods and the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Professional Expectations:

The Mathematics Instructor is expected to:

  • Plan daily instructional activities for secondary students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and using state Standards of Learning and the curriculum of the district.
  • Use current school and division data to plan instruction.
  • Develop formative and summative tests, using multiple tools to assess student learning on an ongoing basis, and alter instruction to meet group and individual needs.
  • Maintain order within the classroom and school with proactive classroom management and a well-organized learning environment.
  • Maintain records of student performance and attendance, and communicate this effectively with students and their parents.
  • Select, requisition, and use a variety of instructional materials to stimulate learning and meet the needs of all students.
  • Communicate and coordinate instruction with other staff (special ed, gifted, remediation staff, etc.) relative to student learning.
  • Stay abreast of current educational trends and best practices as these relate to classroom instruction and effective schools.
  • Maintain a professional manner when interacting with students, parents, patrons, community agencies, and colleagues.
  • Incorporate and model appropriate use of technology to support instruction and student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

The Mathematics Instructor must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching license in the above-mentioned curriculum.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time assignment for the 2024-25 SY. The minimum hourly rate is $31.83 (Bachelors) , $33.36 Masters *
