Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Drafting Engineer to create and maintain technical drawings, specifications, and other documents related to industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD software, instrument design, and project management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and verifying technical drawings, layouts, and specifications with minimal supervision;
  • Creating and updating Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) drawings throughout the design and Management of Change (MOC) processes;
  • Assembling I&E design packages for use in construction;
  • Providing design support during all phases of projects;
  • Assisting Process Engineering, Maintenance, and Unit personnel with design requirements;
  • Creating and maintaining standard drawings, including instrument installation details, templates, and bills of materials;
  • Entering project information and work requests, tracking and coordinating job and project progress;
  • Reviewing vendor and contractor drawings and engineering work packages;
  • Ensuring project documents conform to technical standards, global practices, and drafting standards for quality assurance;
  • Interpreting and adhering to company CAD Standards, industry standards, and relevant regulatory and design codes for specific jobs and projects;
  • Assisting in gathering and delivering design and engineering data on-site as needed;
  • Maintaining a strong awareness and commitment to health, safety, and environmental issues, addressing them to ensure zero harm to employees and contractors.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Able to conduct field walkdowns;
  • Proficiency in MicroStation CAD software;
  • Experience reviewing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs);
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite;
  • Knowledge of industrial computer systems, motor control, PLC, DCS, and SIS;
  • Capability to work on-site at a chemical plant with flexible work arrangements as possible;
  • Independently produce instrument location plans, wiring and loop diagrams, instrument installation details, and instrument hookup details;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team;
  • Experience with infrared inspections of overhead power lines and Motor Control cubicles;
Preferred Experience

Working knowledge of SAP, Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI), and InTools is highly desirable.

Education

An Associate degree in engineering or a scientific discipline and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or completion of specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices with two additional years of experience, is required.
