Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Respiratory Therapy Extern to join our team at Trinity Health. As a key member of our Respiratory Care Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean, assemble, and maintain all Respiratory Care Department equipment within scope of practice, utilizing supplies and resources in a cost-effective manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, stocking, and cleaning of Respiratory Care supplies in the department and throughout the hospital.
  • Assist Respiratory Therapists in completing delegated patient care duties and assigned tasks.
  • Under general supervision by a Respiratory Therapist, perform tasks according to policy and standard procedure, monitoring patient response to therapy and providing timely, accurate documentation in electronic medical record.
  • Administer nasal oxygen, nebulized medication treatments, tracheostomy care, and Pulmonary Hygiene therapy to patients as prescribed by physician.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, standards, resources, and research relative to work performed.
  • Adapt procedures, treatments, and services based on patient's age, development, and growth stage.
  • Accurately complete Electronic Health Record documentation per department standards and maintain the Order Entry and Charging system for services rendered.
  • Assist in training new Respiratory Care Externs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
