Job Title: Meat Team Lead

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Meat Team Lead to join our team at Whole Foods Market.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced retail professional to take on a leadership role in our meat department. As a Meat Team Lead, you will be responsible for assisting the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations, including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. You will lead and develop team members, ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and Maintains Creative Store Layout and Product Merchandising: Create visually appealing store displays and product arrangements that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Works with Team Leader to Achieve Sales, Purchasing, and Labor Targets: Collaborate with the Team Leader to set and achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets, ensuring the department runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Assists Team Leader in Analysis of Sales, Reports, and Labor: Provide insights and recommendations to the Team Leader on sales trends, labor efficiency, and other key performance indicators.
  • Assists Team Leader in Annual Sales and Expense Projections and Budget Preparation: Contribute to the development of annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation, ensuring the department stays within budget.
  • Assists Team Leader with Ordering and Inventory Management: Work closely with the Team Leader to manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure seamless stock replenishment.
  • Works with Team Leader to Resolve Team Concerns or Issues: Support the Team Leader in resolving team concerns, addressing conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Functions as Point Person and Departmental Person in Charge in Absence of Team Leader: Assume responsibility for the department when the Team Leader is absent, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Sets and Achieves the Highest Standards of Retail Execution: Strive for excellence in all aspects of retail execution, from visual merchandising to customer service.
  • Fosters and Encourages a Positive Environment of Outstanding Teamwork, Mutual Respect, and Exceptional Morale: Foster a culture of teamwork, respect, and open communication among team members.
  • Maintains Awareness of Customer Flows and Needs and Directs Team Members as Necessary to Satisfy and Delight Customers: Monitor customer traffic patterns and provide guidance to team members to ensure exceptional customer experiences.
  • Selects, Trains, Develops, Mentors, Motivates, and Counsels Team Members in a Manner That Sustains a High-Performance Team and Minimizes Turnover: Recruit, train, and develop team members to achieve high-performance standards and minimize turnover.
  • Communicates and Maintains Team Member Safety and Security Standards: Ensure team member safety and security through clear communication and adherence to established protocols.
  • Provides Timely, Thorough, and Thoughtful Performance Evaluations: Conduct regular performance evaluations to support team member growth and development.

  • Proficiency with Email, Microsoft Office, and Operations-Related Applications: Proficiently use email, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software applications to manage tasks and communicate with team members and customers.
Experience:
  • 18+ Months Retail Team Member Experience and 6+ Months of Supervisory Experience: Possess a minimum of 18 months of retail experience and 6 months of supervisory experience, demonstrating your ability to lead and manage teams.
Estimated Salary:

$65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
