About the Role

Smithfield Foods is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production lines by performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and making repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including PMs and equipment inspections
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and make repairs as needed
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure efficient production operations
  • Comply with all company safety rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of related experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance environment
  • Vocational diploma or technical degree in a related field (preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, or scissor lift, or other powered industrial trucks (PIT)

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
