Job Overview

The Family YMCA of Greater Augusta is seeking a Senior Director of Wellness and Community Engagement to lead our membership and wellness operations. This role will oversee staff development, financial management, and program innovation to ensure exceptional member experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Team Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to deliver outstanding results.
  • Membership Engagement and Growth: Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and engage members, working closely with the Membership Director.
  • Wellness Program Oversight: Plan and execute wellness initiatives, including fitness programs, personal training, and group exercise offerings.
  • Financial Management: Develop and monitor budgets, overseeing financial performance for membership and wellness programs.
  • Facility and Equipment Management: Ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of wellness areas and equipment, coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Member Experience and Customer Service: Implement strategies to provide exceptional experiences for all members, resolving concerns and addressing feedback promptly and effectively.
  • Strategic Planning and Innovation: Contribute to strategic initiatives, aligning membership and wellness programs with the YMCA's mission and goals.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the YMCA, attending community events and networking opportunities, and developing partnerships to expand the organization's reach.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, exercise science, health promotion, recreation management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • Additional certifications in fitness or wellness are preferred.
  • Three years of leadership experience in membership, wellness, or program management, preferably in a YMCA or similar nonprofit organization.
  • Proven track record of managing teams, including recruiting, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Experience with budget development and financial oversight.
  • Demonstrated success in membership sales, retention strategies, and wellness programming.
  • Familiarity with customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of industry trends in membership, health, and wellness.
  • Proficiency with membership management software and basic computer applications.
