Job Summary

The Certified Occupancy Specialist will provide clerical support to the site offices, performing all required typing, copying, and coordination of paperwork for the Housing Manager. This includes ordering supplies for copiers, faxes, and other equipment. The ideal candidate will determine the continued eligibility of residents seeking affordable housing assistance, monitor and adhere to policies and procedures, and manage priorities and multiple projects commensurate with Housing Authority standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and maintain all files required to operate the office, including updating family composition and income information.
  2. Interview applicants to clarify questions about occupancy and public housing eligibility requirements.
  3. Assemble and organize information from various agencies to determine eligibility.
  4. Process applications for apartments, rents, and transfers, and assist with move-ins, move-outs, and transfers within sites.
  5. Calculate rent based on resident income and HUD regulations with high accuracy.
  6. Conduct annual re-certifications and clarify questions about occupancy certification standards and income.
  7. Enter data into a computer program and produce calculated worksheets with rent determination.
  8. Track rent payments and outstanding debt through the Yardi database.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with business school courses a plus.
  • At least two years of clerical experience and a clear understanding of HUD regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to make moderately complicated arithmetic computations and interviewing skills involving tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Strong computer proficiency and excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Cooperative and courteous to the public and a team player, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions

The Certified Occupancy Specialist will work in a typical office environment and attend meetings, training, and travel to PCC sites unaccompanied.
