Job Description and Duties

The Department of Justice seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Bureau Director of the Firearms Eligibility Branch. This critical role requires a strong leader who can provide executive oversight and direction to the Eligibility Branch, ensuring the effective administration of California's firearms laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct operational activities within the Eligibility Branch, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Eligibility Branch.
  • Advise on legislative solutions to address emerging issues and challenges in the firearms industry.
  • Oversee the implementation of new systems and programs to support Department of Justice firearms-related activities.
  • Ensure the Eligibility Branch meets budget, legislative, and Department mandates.
  • Represent the Department of Justice's operational and policy issues before the legislature, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Background Investigation clearance prior to being hired.
  • Minimum qualifications as specified in the job posting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
