About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial strategy and operations, overseeing all financial functions, including strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, and reporting. The CFO will manage the finance, facilities, and IT teams, ensuring effective utilization of resources and compliance with state funding and nonprofit regulations.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including expertise in nonprofit accounting, government contracts, and grant management. Proficiency in accounting systems (SAGE Intacct preferred) and electronic health record systems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute financial strategies that align with our client's mission and long-term objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation, monitoring, and management of operational and capital budgets.
  • Provide timely, actionable financial insights to senior leadership.
  • Manage daily financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, receivable, and billing.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing to third-party payers and compliance with state funding entities.
  • Actively manage cash flow and optimize the use of restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Write, prepare, and oversee grant applications and reporting for state, local, and foundation funding.
  • Maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and state regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison to state agencies, such as DCF, DMHAS, and DSS, to ensure reimbursement compliance.
  • Lead and mentor teams across finance, IT, and facilities, fostering a culture of inclusion and collaboration.
  • Partner with leadership to develop sustainable funding models and program growth strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize financial systems for transparency and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
  • Expertise in nonprofit financial management and compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (SAGE Intacct preferred) and electronic health record systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
