Picture Framer/Engraver Assistant

This position is assigned to the Arts and Crafts Center, Engraving and Framing Department. The incumbent will assist the framer in fulfilling customer orders by following work order specifications and strict instructions.

• Assist the framer in fulfilling customer orders by following work order specifications and strict instructions.
• Assist the engraver in fulfilling custom orders, including setting up lettering and designs using a computer graphics program.
• Prepare materials such as nameplates, trophies, and awards for engraving.
• Operate equipment and tools, including hand and power tools, to assemble frames and cut mat board.
• Clean equipment and work area to ensure a safe work environment.
• Conduct inventory, ensure pricing is accurate, and notify supervisor of discrepancies.
• Operate a cash register or credit card machine to receive payments from customers.

• Must be able to read and follow simple and specific written and/or oral instructions.
• Must have experience using hand and power tools common to picture framing.
• Must have the ability to calculate lengths, widths, and weights.
• Basic knowledge in using computer graphics programs is required.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 40lbs.
• Must be knowledgeable and experienced with all aspects of engraving.
