Job Summary

Harvard University seeks a seasoned professional to lead its Gift Planning team, driving strategic growth and philanthropic support for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS). As Senior Director of Gift Planning, you will develop and execute comprehensive plans to cultivate and steward high-net-worth donors, leveraging complex gift planning strategies to maximize philanthropic impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual and multi-year work plans to maximize gift planning opportunities
  • Lead a team of Gift Planning professionals in researching, developing, and executing gift plans for high-net-worth donors
  • Collaborate with FAS gift officers and University Development Office colleagues to identify and pursue planned giving prospects
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase familiarity and fluency with gift planning vehicles among staff and donor communities
  • Manage a portfolio of planned gift prospects, including prospect strategy development, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of gift planning or fundraising experience, or comparable work experience in the legal or financial professions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to think strategically and innovatively
  • Ability to lead and motivate direct reports, as well as lead with influence across different departments
  • Sophisticated understanding of planned giving outreach, solicitation, and stewardship approaches
  • Ability to respectfully and adeptly communicate with high-level prospects and donors
