Job Title:

Housing (HUD) Assistant/Planner

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to join Middlesex County as a Community Development Specialist, playing a vital role in supporting HUD programs and community-oriented services.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit required planning documents and reports for HUD-funded activities, including the Five-Year Consolidated Plan, Annual Action Plan, and CAPER.
  • Conduct environmental record reviews for HUD-funded projects.
  • Utilize HUD software systems to create planning documents and report on global and project-level accomplishments.
  • Provide technical assistance to subrecipients and funded organizations.
  • Perform program monitoring for compliance with HUD regulations and agreement stipulations.
  • Compile and submit programmatic and fiscal reports.
  • Facilitate public hearings, plan reviews, and committee meetings.
  • Participate in federal monitoring of HUD programs.
  • Assist in gathering and disseminating community relations information and promote existing programs to community residents.
  • Implement and deliver community-oriented service programs that benefit community residents.
  • Conduct surveys, gather data, and project anticipated problems concerning community activities and changes.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
  • Prior knowledge, training, or experience working with HUD programs desired.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus but not required.
Working Conditions:

This position requires:

  • A valid driver's license in New Jersey.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with associates, families, individuals, and other agencies or organizations.
  • Ability to collect and make correct appraisals of information regarding individuals and families.
  • Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports.
  • Ability to maintain essential records and files.
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
Salary Information:

The estimated salary for this role is approximately $$55,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience. This salary range is based on industry standards and takes into account the skills and qualifications required for the position.
