Job Summary

The City of Marietta, GA is seeking a highly skilled Power Control Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and responding to events regarding the electrical distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and respond to system events such as outages, system damage, accidents, and security violations.
  • Utilize SCADA, OMS, FDIR, and other systems to monitor, analyze, and report on the electrical distribution system.
  • Dispatch appropriate personnel and equipment as required.
  • Coordinate switching for electrical crews, inspectors, and operations personnel for the maintenance and restoration of power in affected service areas.
  • Respond to calls from various authorities and service personnel.
  • Monitor the City/BLW water tanks and sewer lift stations levels and status.
  • Report abnormal conditions to water and sewer authorities.
  • Dispatch water and sewer personnel for repair, maintenance, or inspection of affected areas.
  • Perform administrative functions such as maintaining and updating files, submitting weekly on-call statements, and writing routine service orders.
Requirements
  • An Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field and one year of related experience; or a high school diploma or GED and two years of related control center, distribution, or engineering experience.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of computer communications operations, data entry, filing, and retrieving electronic information.
  • Ability to use MS Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, and other related software as needed.
  • Ability to learn and understand technical jargon and terms used in the electrical industry.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and different shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MEAG Low-Side/High-Side, Switching certification on the ITS system within one year of hire.
  • MEAG SCADA training certificate on the ITS system within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution theory, including the functions of electrical components such as circuit breakers, regulators, capacitors, transformers, and other related parts.
