About the Role

Brex is seeking a highly skilled BSA Officer to join our Compliance Team. As a BSA Officer, you will play a critical role in driving the performance and effectiveness of our BSA compliance program.

Key Responsibilities
  • BSA Program Development and Implementation: Oversee the strategy, development, and implementation of our BSA Compliance program in the US, including developing customer onboarding, sanctions screening, fraud risk strategies, and ongoing monitoring processes and controls.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with various departments, including Operations, Risk, Legal, and Product, to ensure cohesive and integrated compliance efforts.
  • Regulatory Partnerships: Partner with external stakeholders, including banking partners, state and federal regulators, and auditors to manage expectations around partnership and supervisory examinations.
  • Compliance Program Management: Ensure the program complies with all applicable BSA laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Oversee the design and execution of risk assessments, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Regulatory Filings: Ensure timely and accurate filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and other required regulatory filings.
  • Transaction Monitoring: Maintain and enhance transaction monitoring systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Compliance Culture: Promote a culture of compliance and awareness throughout the organization.
  • Regulatory Stewardship: Liaise with regulatory agencies, law enforcement, and industry groups to stay current on BSA trends and developments.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of experience in compliance and BSA/AML roles with at least 4 years of leadership experience.
  • Leadership Experience: Prior experience working in a compliance leadership role at a regulated financial institution or fintech company.
  • BSA Expertise: Proven track record designing, implementing, and scaling customer onboarding, sanctions, and AML risk programs.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of domestic and international AML regulations and standards, including the USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and FinCEN requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • High Ethical Standards: High ethical standards and commitment to integrity and transparency.
  • Certification: CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification or equivalent.
  • Start-Up Experience: Prior experience working in a start-up culture and a track record for rolling up your sleeves to get something done (effective execution in an informal corporate environment).
