Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic with Heavy Equipment Expertise to join our team at Metalico. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing basic preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel and gas engine machines, including heavy equipment such as material handlers, loaders, excavators, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and diesel engines to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Troubleshoot and Diagnose: Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with diesel and gas engine machines, identifying the root cause of issues and implementing effective solutions.
  • Operate Heavy Equipment: Safely operate heavy equipment, including material handlers, loaders, excavators, and forklifts, as needed.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring that essential materials are always available.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with coworkers and customers, providing excellent customer service and promoting a positive team environment.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years' experience in heavy equipment and diesel mechanics.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): A valid CDL is a plus, but not required.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds), squat, kneel, bend, and twist as necessary.
