Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting to join our growing Revenue Accounting team at Brightspeed.

In this role, you will report directly to the Manager, Revenue Accounting and support the implementation of processes, policies, and procedures ensuring the accuracy of accounting and reporting.

You will play a major part in the financial month-end closing and reporting processes by managing complex journal entries for the company.

As a Senior Accountant, Revenue Accounting, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing journal entries with supporting documentation for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes for revenue accounting activities.
  • Reviewing and analyzing contracts for non-standard terms and ensuring proper revenue recognition in accordance with ASC-606 principles.
  • Preparing calculations for current expected credit losses (CECL) and specific revenue reserves.
  • Supporting the implementation of SAP BRIM billing system, including migration of legacy billing systems.
  • Preparing various balance sheet account reconciliations ensuring proper supporting documentation.
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial management reports.
  • Analyzing and documenting income statement and balance sheet fluctuations monthly.
  • Liaising with teams across multiple departments and locations to obtain and distribute financial information.
  • Providing support for external and internal audit activities as necessary.
  • Reviewing and enhancing analysis and analytical processes and controls.
  • Ensuring effective working relationships with key business partners.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a CPA certification.

Additionally, we require 3+ years of accounting experience in a corporate accounting or financial reporting setting, with a working knowledge of ASC-606 principles.

Experience with revenue accounting using ASC-606 guiding principles, proficiency in database tools and financial reporting packages, and clear communication skills are also essential.

Bonus points for experience with SAP and/or RAR, billing system implementations and migrations, and a background in the telecommunications industry.
