Job Summary:

The Surgical Team Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, attending to the patient's direct care needs and performing tasks as delegated by the R.N. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the RN with implementation of an age-appropriate plan of care through tasks routinely delegated by the RN and tasks delegated by the RN based on patient's condition and the individual's skills.
  • Can first and second scrub simple uncomplicated surgical cases applicable to the Sr. Tech level.
  • Demonstrate both knowledge and technical expertise regarding sterile processing.
  • Demonstrate both knowledge and technical expertise regarding procedures, equipment, supplies, instruments, and surgical sequence for all procedures applicable to the Sr. Tech level (see attached Sr. Tech Orientation Checklist).
  • Assist the RN to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and employees.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009, or Is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service.
  • Completion of a surgical technologist program with certification exam eligibility - certification preferred.
  • Two years of surgical technology experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment.
