Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in the Mortgage industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

As a Staff Accountant, your day-to-day tasks will include but are not limited to:

1. Managing and overseeing the daily operations of our accounting department.
2. Preparing financial statements, reports, memos, invoices, and other documents.
3. Handling monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
4. Reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
5. Ensuring company financial accounts, such as bank accounts, are managed and updated.
6. Reviewing and processing reimbursements.
7. Providing detailed analyses and explanations of all transactions.
8. Developing and maintaining financial policies and systems that comply with the company's policies.
9. Working closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and decision support.
10. Participating in strategic data analysis, research, and modeling for senior company leadership.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, the candidate will need to meet the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
3. Strong proficiency in Excel and Accpac.
4. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Hands-on experience with accounting software.
6. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
7. Experience with general ledger functions.
8. Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
10. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
11. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
