About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Critical Care Nurse to join our team at Children's Health in Dallas, Texas. This is a full-time position with variable staffing schedules.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in acute care pediatric critical care hospital settings. They will be responsible for independently performing the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process to deliver developmentally appropriate care. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care that meets the unique needs of each patient and their family.

Responsibilities
  • Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate patient care, using clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Accountable for ensuring patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.
  • Oversee care delivered by the patient care team, coordinating the plan of care and providing education and facilitating learning for patients, families, and the patient care team.
  • Collaborate with physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care that promotes the best possible outcomes for patients.
Requirements
  • At least 1 year of acute care pediatric critical care hospital experience required.
  • A four-year Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas required.
  • BLS certification approved by the American Heart Association required.
  • PALS/NRP/ACLS certification required (department-specific requirements).
  • Effective April 20, 2020, new employees must obtain PACES certification within 6 months of hire and existing employees must obtain PACES certification upon expiration of their PEARS certification (no later than April 20, 2022). In some service areas, Initial Pediatric Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviors (PPMAB) training must be renewed annually.
