About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Group Fitness Instructor to lead and/or demonstrate general fitness classes at our YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids location.

This part-time position requires face-to-face leadership and may involve early morning, evening, and weekend responsibilities. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2025.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create engaging exercise routines that cater to diverse member needs
  • Demonstrate correct posture alignment and provide feedback on proper form
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive class environment by following established protocols
  • Monitor exercise intensity using the perceived exertion method
  • Develop personalized fitness plans to support members' goals
  • Provide exceptional customer service and address member concerns in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized workout area, adhering to health and safety standards
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience as a group fitness instructor is preferred
  • National certification from reputable organizations such as Les Mills, ACE, AFAA, YMCA, Cycle, Keiser, or Johnny G is required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid training within the first 60 days of employment
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training and State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
